TRUTH BEHIND RUMOUR
Ken Bates
United chairman Ken Bates has moved to clear up media speculation that former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd is set to mount a take-over bid for the club.
"This is inspired speculation because Freddy and I had lunch last week in Newcastle," the chairman told Yorkshire Radio.
"He's not about to swoop in a 'sensational deal' for Leeds and I'm not about to sell it either.
"Freddy is a good friend of mine and has been for years. Suzannah and I went up to see him, and we finished up having lunch.
"Inevitably the subject of football came out, and he's still a bit sore about what happened at Newcastle. He would like to get back in and I would like an investor, so the two fit in.
"We had lunch and agreed to keep in touch, and that's it. He hasn't made a sensational swoop and talks are not now at an advanced stage.
"It's early discussions that's all, and Leeds United is not for sale."
The chairman also revealed he had received another approach from a third-party.
"What didn't make the press last week is a phone call I had from a former manager of Boston United who claims to have been in China looking to raise the money to buy Newcastle from (Mike) Ashley," the chairman revealed.
"He said he knew someone interested in buying Leeds. I said I wasn't interested in talking over the telephone to people I don't know, but I said 'who is it?' He said it's the chairman of Darlington.
"What you have to remember is that Leeds is an attractive propsect. You know that because Mr Morris tried to buy it, Mr Redbus tried to buy it, and Mr Krasner tried to engineer a number of things, all of which failed.
"The hard work has now been done, all of the rubbish is out of the way, and the club is back on track.
"The real league table shows we are two points clear at the top, or will be when we get our 15 points back.
"The club is in profit, the gates are back and we have averages higher than Middlesbrough, Wigan, Reading and Fulham.
"The ground is slowly being improved, and the team is strong. Why would I want to sell?
"After two years of hard work, and three months of absolute hell, we can talk about football.
"Freddy is a wise old man - although he's younger than me - he's experienced and he would be an ideal partner, but it's gossip. I'm here for the long haul."
Leeds võttis rutiinse võidu. Sellel korral siis kaks kotti Beckfordilt ja üks Kandolilt.

Kas meil oleks aeg juba vaadata igasuguseid statistikat ajaloo tegemise teemal?
Teisalt mõjub see ärasõnumisena..

STATEMENT
Leeds United have been informed by the Football Association that they do not believe it appropriate for there to be any further inquiry into the decision and the process adopted by the Football League surrounding the club's 15-point deduction.
Chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "We are amazed that the Football Association do not feel it is appropriate to intervene in a matter which we believe is fundamentally wrong, and sets a dangerous precedent for the future.
"We will fully reflect on this surprising decision and are taking the advice of our legal team. We will not be making any further comment at this time."
Any further questions should be directed to the Football Association.
Nojah, teisiti polnud ju võimalik Leedsi peatada. Nii saadetigi mõnus kohtunik platsile. Kaks punast kaarti, kari kollaseid, sisuliselt terve teine poolaeg üheksa mehega.
Viis lisaminutit teisele poolajale otsa. Lisaminutil viigivärav.
Tõesti üllatav.
Kuid pole hullu. Kaotanud vähemalt veel pole.
