    "new shearer" my ass!

      Ootad Decot klubisse we???
Sibierski asemel oleks võinud saabast saada hoopis see pikk laisk neeger.

Hooaja esimene mäng Spursi vastu on teles, peab ainult välja nuputama kuidas siit Ida-Virust õigeks ajaks pealinna saab. Koguneme kuskil?

                    U-turn

                    July 17th, 2007

Today’s football world is cut-throat. Ethics and morals take a back-seat to winning and achieving success by any means necessary. Thus football has become plagued by bungs, backhanders, and people who change their minds depending on which way the wind blows.

In such a murky world, virtues of morality, consistency and honesty are very rare qualities to unearth. But every so often a player bucks the trend of pandering to the masses, and stays true to themselves and their opinions.

Nobody in football, whether for good or bad, has been more straight forward than Roy Keane. Think Alf Inge Haarland.

And then there was Keano’s infamous Play the Pundit interview back in 2005 following United’s 4-1 humiliating defeat to Boro, which was never shown due to the controversial opinions proffered by the then captain of the Red Devils.

Happily, Football365 has collected the news-clippings from the time of that incident.

“Roy Keane has slammed five Manchester United team-mates on MUTV as not good enough. The United skipper tore into Alan Smith, John O’Shea, Kieran Richardson, Liam Miller and Darren Fletcher” - the Sun.

“Keane did not hold back with his withering criticism of Richardson, who gave away a penalty against Middlesbrough, and is alleged to have slammed the young England star’s approach.” - the Daily Mirror.

“…a moment in the changing room at Carrington after Kieran Richardson told his teammates about ordering a Bentley Continental. Keane, it is said, heard the young player talk of his new car and related it to the 4-1 thrashing suffered by the team at the Riverside two days before.” - the Sunday Times.

Can you see where I am heading with this?

Fast-forward to today, and not only has Keane already signed Liam Miller during the back-end of last season, but now he has brought Mr. Bentley Continental too for a whopping £5.5m. Nowadays Keane has changed his tune to “having worked with [Richardson] in the past I’m well aware of what a good player and a good lad he is.”

This leave us with only two possible conclusions to understand Keane’s signings. One is that since 2005, both Miller and Richardson have improved their game and attitudes, and are now respected by Keane. The other is that he is simply backtracking.

The objectives and ambitions of United and Sunderland are world’s apart. If the Red Devils finish in second place they are disappointed, whilst if Sunderland finish one spot above the drop-zone their season will have been a huge success. Perhaps the past comments of Keane need to be viewed through that prism.

However such an approach flies contrary to the reticent, head-strong and unforgiving character which Keane has evoked throughout his career in football. We love Roy Keane for talking tough, and never backing down from his high, high-horse.

The idea that Keane is now compromising his principles has been suggested by his former team-mate, Gary Pallister. According to Pally, “[Keane is] paying slightly over the odds for players. I think Roy has suggested himself that it is very difficult to get people up to the north-east. The big players are looking for bigger clubs, so that’s what he’s fighting against at the moment.”

Talking to FourFourTwo, Keane said, “Believe it or not, I think things through before I say them.” Keane promotes himself as a man of his word. Arguably this is now no longer the case.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story!

Võibolla just see aitaski Richardsonil saada paremaks mängijaks.

Dahh!

                        Keano ütlemis-tegemisest järgmine lookene:

Get the latest Newcastle news and North East news from the Evening Chronicle. Local website with breaking news, NUFC news, SAFC news, video, sport and weather from Newcastle and the North East region.

Keane’s transfer policy has been criticised, his former Manchester United team-mate Gary Pallister among those claiming Sunderland have paid inflated fees this summer.

“I wouldn’t lose one second of sleep over the money we’ve paid. People have been saying we’ve been paying over the odds. My old friend Gary Pallister was saying that – he needs to get a life and stop doing all these interviews,” he joked.

The Irishman also criticised Iraq captain Younis Mahmoud, who claims to have turned down a move to Wearside. “He’s one of 400,000 in the last few weeks,” he responded. “I’ve never heard of the lad, we’ve never spoken to him, and he must be in cuckoo land if he thinks that.”

Auh!

                          Scorers: Brown 49 - Ameobi 56,72, Owen 58

Crowd: 6,030 including around 1,500 away supporters, who assembled behind one goal at the covered Rink End of the ground and were in good voice.

The Allardyce era got underway at a sunny Victoria Park on Tuesday evening, with what was ultimately a deserved victory.

Playing on a perfect surface and with former Magpies boss Sir Bobby Robson watching from the stand, United lined up in their home kit featuring newly-announced squad numbers but no names.

However, their strikeforce of Martins and Carroll failed to break the deadlock in the opening 45, although they both came close - as did new boy Barton with a diving header.

At the other end Shay Given was hardly troubled, although 'Pools made some headway down the left flank against Dyer and Carr, only to be let down by some poor crossing.

A raft of half time changes brought Ameobi and Owen into the action, with the latter not far away from netting with his first touch in the opening seconds.

It was the League One side though who went ahead on 49 minutes as James Brown found space to beat Harper with an angled shot at the far post.

The lead lasted less than five minutes though, before Ameobi took Dyer's through ball and evaded debutant Polish 'keeper Jan Budtz before slipping the ball into an empty net - and ignoring the pleas of Barton to leave it for him to convert.

Before the hour the visitors had the lead, as James Troisi cut in from the right and either sliced a rotten low shot or played a perfect ball infield for Michael Owen to convert.

In what was turning out to be an entertaining contest Pools then forced a corner from which they netted with a near post header - only for it to be ruled out for an infringement, which didn't deter Harper and Carr from animatedly discussing our positional shortcomings.

Further goals looked likely, with Huntington heading over from an N'Zogbia corner and some good work from Shola that created a shooting chance out of nothing.

Newcastle eased further ahead on 72 minutes though, as Troisi again played the ball in for Ameobi to fire home his second of the game - with a significant assist from the Pools 'keeper, who spilled the shot into his own net.

The final stages saw various unfamiliar graduates from our academy side get a run out as the clock ran down.

So, nothing we really didn't know before: Barton is eager, enthusiastic and looking to impress and Rozehnal looked decent enough but requires reinforcements round him.

The display of Ameobi was a bonus after such a torrid time with injuries and it was heartening to see him apparently relaxed and enjoying himself ahead of the battle for striking spots this season.

And after the never-ending coverage of club related matters since the Watford away game, it's a relief to have something on the field to write about. Welcome back.

No sign of Emre or Babayaro, while Luque and Geremi had already been confirmed as no-shows earlier in the week.

                          Highlights were:
Shola being serenaded with "he's got a brand new hip" - something which had the Toon man grinning and acknowledging the fans.

A revival of the old Bananarama Zico Martin chant for Joey Barton.

And a few choruses of "He's goiing down he's going, Shepherd's going down".

No idea what the latter one meant...

                                Käimas kaks kuuma kõlakat:

                                1) WEST Ham United want to take Kieron Dyer to Upton Park to link up with his former Newcastle United colleagues Craig Bellamy Scott Parker and Lee Bowyer.
On his last appearance at St James’ Park in the defeat by Blackburn, Dyer and his pal Titus Bramble were both jeered by some United supporters when they were substituted, and this is something which did not please either player.
Bramble has gone, of course, and it would not surprise me in the least if Dyer followed him.

                                2) NEWCASTLE United have slapped in a £7m bid for a top-class defender as Sam Allardyce continues to try and strengthen his back four.
United have refused to disclose just who their target is but it is likely to be a central defender or left back.
United have been desperate for a left-back for some time now – and that need has become even more urgent.

Reports that Allardyce wants Fulham left-back Franck Queudrue are wide of the mark and in any case the Frenchman is only valued at £3m.

United’s latest bid is twice this amount – the figure that has been bandied around for Manchester United’s Argentinian international left- back Gabriel Heinze.
Allardyce has admitted he is keeping an eye on the Heinze situation and will be aware that Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to let him move to Liverpool.
Big Sam and Fergie are pals, but while Allardyce’s interest in Heinze is bold and ambitious, somehow I just cannot see him coming to St James’ Park with Real Madrid and Barcelona also interested.

But one big-name player who could still do that is Brazilian international Edmilson and his departure from the Nou Camp looks even more likely after Barcelona signed yet another defender yesterday when they paid Real Zaragoza £13.8m for top Argentinian defender Gabriel Milito.
Edmilson, who could well skipper Brazil in the 2010 World Cup, will be out until October or November following his knee operation, but I am told Allardyce would like something sorted out before then.
But I also understand that, after Allardyce travelled to Barcelona at the end of last month and talked to the 30-year-old Brazilian defender, United are in pole position.
