Roma and Italian star-player Danielle de Rossi has sensationally refused the call-up for his national team during this summers world-cup.
An apparantly very emotional De Rossi replied in front of the camera’s:"I am a man of pride, honesty and sincerity and I didn’t find those vallues in our national team anymore.
I am a sportsman who is always honest and likes to take consequence for his actions. I have made my fair share of mistakes in my career and paid for them, I fully respect and agree with that, I was one of the first to agree on the ‘code of ethics’ my former coaches Luis Enrique and Cesare Prandelli applied and have paid for my mistakes in the past, rightfully so.
But whereas my former Roma coach Enrique always stood firm and never made exceptions for anyone, which I totally appreciate and respect, I feel my NT-coach measures with different measures. I have been banned before, but I feel that if others make the same mistakes as me, they walk away with it.
I am a man of principles and these principles tell me I can not fully commit to a team that treats some players different than others. “All animals are equal, some are just more equal than others” sums up best how I feel and I can not face my own face in the mirror if I don’t stand up against these incosequent and unreliable actions from some people. It hurts me a lot as I was always honoured wearing the beautifull Azzuri shirt, but I can’t agree with what it stands for with Mr Prandelli in charge."

Kui Chiellini oleks aumees, siis ta loobuks respecti märgiks 2014 world cup spotist ja oma 2012 täielikult ebaõnnestunud turniiri vastutuse võtmise eesmärgil.
