Njaa, Villa teemas kiitust saanud Hendersoni peaks võib-olla hoopis pisut nahutama.. viimases kolmes mängus on vähemalt osaliselt tema vea tõttu värav löödud. Eelmisel aastal vähemalt selle ajani, kui Kuipers vigastada sai, sellist pulli ei juhtunud ning kaitse oli kindel/kindlam, kuigi seal seisid suures osas samad mehed. Aga no see on see, kui McGhee tüli kisub - Kuipers peab Bostonis madistama.

Aga see kõik tähendab, et nüüd hakkab minu kaalukauss juba tõepoolest \"Magoo out\" poole kalduma. Olgu, kõik see raha vähe, staadion, Lewes District Council etc on küll tõsi ning nagu eelmiselgi aastal, oleks ka sel aastal 1. divisjoni püsimajäämine hea saavusus. Kuid esialgu tundub, et seda siiski ei juhtu. Ok, mõnikord läheb paremini, mõnikord halvemini, mõnikord on õnne, mõnikord ei ole. Ent... palju on ka asju, mis kogu selle allakäigu juures närvidele käivad:
- treeneri tülid (tipp)mängijatega: Leon Knight, Mark McGammon, Michel Kuipers. need on vaid sajaprotsendilised juhtumid, kuid neid on veel. Oleks üks sellelaadne juhtum, siis võiks ju süüdistada mängijat või öelda, et juhtub, kuid siin on miskit muudki mängus.
- raha teema: seda teadupärast ei ole, aga suvel osteti teadupärast u £100k eest Frederico Turienzo, palka makstakse ka nibin-nabin Molangole-McCammonile. See klubi ei saa endale hetkel nii kalleid floppe lubada.
- uute mängijate teema: kus nad on? Olgu, üleminekuakna ajal ei suudetud kedagi sisse tuua... aga väidetavalt oli lauale käia suurusjärk £150k, milline pakkumine tehti Clyde\'ile Tom Brightoni omandamiseks (õnneks oli vastuseks \"ei\", sest tõenäoliselt oleks seegi flopiks kujunend). Aga laenud? Nii pikalt jalgpallis tiirelnud mehel nagu McGhee peaks olema tutvusi küll, miskaudu sebida.. vastus on aga, et raha on vähe ja keegi ei taha tulla sellistesse tingimustesse CCC põhja võitlema. Hmm, aga see £150k? Nagu Winnie ütles: \"Show me the honey\".. ja mängija oleks kohal. Raudselt. Poleks küll vaja mõttetult palju pakkuda, aga kas seda teevad nt Coventry (Wise), Plymuff (Pericard), Millwall (Cameron või keda nad kõik kokku laenavadki)? Ei usu.
- taktika ja mängijatevalik: aeg-ajalt koomiline pisut! Et nüüd siis on McPhee tõusnud nii heasse vormi, et peaks platsil käima pidevalt, kui veel veidi aega tagasi ei saanud platsile isegi mitte Aldershotis? Samas kui olemas on näiteks McCammon, kes minu arvates on parem. Turienzogi ei saa olla hullem. Praegu aga käimas noore Gattingu läbipõletamine tema jaoks liiga vara... Rääkimata hilinenud vahetustest ning 2. poolaja ümbersünniga (negatiivses mõttes).

See selleks. Oleks hetkel meeskonnal mingitki vormi, siis ei oleks püsimajäämine hetkel isegi mitte kuigi raske ülesanne:

Falmer stadium plan delayed a year

BRIGHTON and Hove Albion have been forced to put their plans for Falmer stadium on hold for at least another year in the wake of Lewes District Council\'s legal challenge.

The agonising delay to the forecasted building schedule is expected to cost the club more than £50,000 a week in lost revenue - money which should have been generated through ticket sales and other business from the moment the £50 million stadium opened its doors.

Brighton and Hove Albion\'s chief executive Martin Perry and chairman Dick Knight, speaking exclusively to The Argus, last night revealed there was no way the stadium could be up and running by the planned 2008 deadline.

Mr Knight blamed Lewes\'s \"elitism and snobbery\" against the city of Brighton for bringing the legal challenge which has led to the devastating delay to the club\'s plans.

Fans said forcing a delay was a deliberate tactic by anti-stadium campaigners who were hoping to destroy the club.

Brighton Kemp Town MP Des Turner said: \"It is a worry. This is news we were all afraid of and presumably it is what the bringers of the Judicial Review were aiming for.

\"I do not think they will be successful in overturning the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister\'s decision but the delays will be crucial for the club.

\"The club is living on a wing and a prayer and I imagine every year they are not in a new stadium they will be sinking into the red.\"

The two Albion bosses revealed they were now facing up to the fact the stadium would not be ready until the 2009-10 season at the earliest - depending on the outcome of a High Court hearing into John Prescott\'s decision to grant planning permission to the scheme.

They are basing their new forecast on a swift outcome to the controversial legal challenge brought by Lewes District Council in November but admitted the club could be put out of business if anti-stadium campaigners managed to delay the process for years rather than months.

A date for the hearing has not been set but it is expected to be held sometime in the summer and the Seagulls optimistically hope it would be over in a matter of days.

The club cannot go ahead with its development plans until it knows the outcome of the case, which is also expected to cost the club £75,000 to £90,000 in legal fees, so it is now working to the new opening deadline 12 months later than planned.

Lost revenue is a major blow to the Seagulls\' business plan as it had expected to generate up to £3 million in the first 12 months of the stadium opening.

Mr Perry said the whole legal process was pointless because the decision would ultimately end up back with John Prescott if the district council won its case and the deputy prime minister is unlikely to change his mind. Mr Perry said: \"So the only impact of this whole exercise is delay and Lewes know that. You have to ask the question - is their aim to put the club out of business?\"

Mr Knight blasted the council for acting against the interests of its constituents and the Sussex community at large.

He said: \"This is all about the county town old-money snobbery against the seaside city of Brighton. They don\'t understand the benefits this stadium would bring to the whole community, including their own.\"

McGhee\'s future \"not up for debate\"

Albion chairman Dick Knight today revealed the future of manager Mark McGhee is not on the agenda.

Knight is not about to bow to pressure from a vocal minority of fans who think McGhee should lose his job with the Seagulls on course for relegation from the Championship.

He says the only thing that matters at the moment are the nine remaining games with McGhee in charge which will decide Albion\'s fate, starting with Saturday\'s visit of Preston.

Six defeats on the trot have caused some supporters to call for McGhee\'s head on radio phone-ins and fan websites.

In an exclusive interview with The Argus last Friday, McGhee claimed it would be outrageous if relegation was accompanied by the axe.

Knight said: \"I gather there was a poll that said X percent want Mark to stay and X percent want Mark to be fired. We are not going to discuss that, because it\'s not an issue.

\"Right now, it would completely de-stabilise the club, it would be totally unnecessary.

\"Of course, people are concerned. They pay their money, they have a right to their say, but this is not a public issue right now, it\'s not for debate at the moment, it\'s not on the agenda.

\"What is on the agenda is trying to stay in this league. Mark has got a contract through to the end of next season, he has got his security.

\"Every manager is judged on their results ultimately, that\'s normal in football. We\'ve got nine more matches and we are going to be battling away, with Mark at the helm, to stay in this league. That is the only issue right now.

\"If I gave Mark the \'dreaded\' chairman\'s vote of confidence, half of the people would say \'we know what that means\'. I\'m not going to do it. His job is to keep this team in this league. We will discuss the future when we know what league we are in.\"

Meanwhile, Albion have been invited by Arsenal to play a friendly behind closed doors next Tuesday morning in which the Gunners are expected to give run-outs to some of their high-profile injury casualties, such as Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole.

Positiivseid uudiseid ka vahelduseks: nädalavahetusel teeniti terve punkt. Mõelge - üks punkt play-off kohta jahtivalt meeskonnalt, kes mõne arvates on selle divisjoni paremuselt teine klubi. Kõva sõna, kuid nähtavasti mitte nii kõva, kui augustikuine 0-0 Prestoniga, sest seekord nagu ise eriti ei loodud ning Hendersonil oli tööd piisavalt.

Võitlus jätkub, usk tugevneb taas.. v-o ka seoses loodetavate laenudega. Aga kõik on veel mängijate/treenerite endi kätes - võit Millwalli, Wendy ja ühe üle veel (miks mitte QPR, Luton, S\'oton) ning viik siin-seal ja saab järgmisel hooajal nii Palace\'i, Southamptoni kui ka Pompeyga mängida. Kui Arsenali mängu mõtetest sai juba mujal räägitud, siis olgu nüüd veel lisatud, et tookord 70 minutit mänginud Dodd olevat valmis ka QPRangersi vastu väljakule astuma. Täna selgus jälle, et Gifton Noel-Williamsi tulek jäi rahalistel põhjustel ära. Ei nuta, see hooaeg on juba niikuinii läbi põhimõtteliselt ja pigem võiks valmistada järgmiseks. Kuigi ma ei teagi, mida see tähendama peaks... McCammoni tagasikutsumist ja ründepaar Bic Mac-Coca-Cola tekitamist? Oleks arvatavasti päris lööv järgmisel hooajal, ent kahjuks ei juhtu.

Lupolit ei tule, sest Lupoli on hooaja lõpuni vigastusega väljas. Dick arvab, et muidu oleks Lupoli vabalt tulnud. Mina arvan, et Dick ajab lihtsalt juttu ja Lupolit poleks tulnud.

Sa vahi, Gifton Noel-Williams skooriski eile ja nüüd juba kolma mängu jutti kaotuseta. Kõva. Aga kuna teised võitsid, siis League 1 on põhimõtteliselt kindel. Nüüd siis ei jää muud üle, kui oodata Brightoni võitu S\'otoni üle ning viimase senise vormi jätkumist, mis kombineerituna Wednesday/Millwalli võitudega tähendaks, et saaks lõunaranniku konkurendiga ka järgmisel hooajal madistada. Oleks maru ju. Või noh, samas oleks üks väga tugev võitleja edasipääsukohale seega juures.. või noh, nagu Notts Forest äkki.
