Vastus teemale \'Swansea City FC\'
Enne tänast finaali siis midagi seesugust:
You see them on the pitch every week, you read what they\'ve got to say in the papers, but what do you really know about the men who play for your favourite team? Insights into the players\' personalties rarely go much further than learning someone has been \"getting a bit of stick off the lads\" for wearing a dodgy suit or making a clown of himself with an elaborate goal celebration.
So we asked Swansea City club captain Roberto Martinez to reveal the things you never knew about Kenny Jackett\'s players as they prepare for their big day in the Football League Trophy final.
Find out who the karaoke kings are, who gets treated like a baby and who can\'t stop banging on about Ryan Giggs and Craig Bellamy as Martinez takes you inside the Swans dressing room for a tongue-in-cheek guide to tomorrow\'s likely team
WILLY GUERET
(Goalkeeper)
BIG WILLY is a bit of a serious character, but we like to wind him up by making references to when he got arrested at Bury on the final day of last season.
That always gives everyone a laugh, though Willy didn\'t find it very funny at the time.
He played a fantastic role in our promotion last season, and he\'s had another good year between the posts so far.
ALAN TATE
(Full back)
TATEY\'S a bit of a clown - or at least it seems that way because he keeps putting this Christie the Crown mask on that he originally wore for a fancy dress party at Christmas.
The joke the lads say is \"Tatey, you can take the mask off now\" when he hasn\'t got it on, which I\'m sure he appreciates!
Having started as a trainee at Manchester United, he thinks he learnt all his skills off Bobby Charlton. He\'s had a great season, playing well in several positions for us.
GARRY MONK
(Central defender)
GARRY goes about his job in a very focused and professional way, but off the pitch he\'s very lively and funny.
You\'ve to be careful when he\'s not around because he\'s a dangerous joker. One minute he\'ll be quiet, the next he does something daft. I\'m afraid this is a bit of a private joke, but he\'s hopeless at filling in questionnaires. You\'ve got to keep him away from those.
KEITH LOWE
(Central defender)
WE THINK he speaks English, but we\'re not sure about that because he hasn\'t spoken a word yet since joining us on loan from Wolves a few weeks ago.
He\'s very quiet, but he seems a really nice fella and he\'s a solid defender who has been very impressive in every game he\'s played for us.
We keep telling him there was nothing malicious when Garry Monk banged into him from behind at Colchester and he had to be stretchered off injured. I think he believes us.
SAM RICKETTS
(Full-back)
SAM used to be a very friendly character, but since he\'s been playing for Wales, whenever you ask him to do something he says he\'ll have to ask \"Bellers\" (Craig Bellamy) or \"Giggsy\" (Ryan Giggs) first!
On the pitch, Sam has been Mr Reliable for Swansea from the first day he came to the club. He\'s gone from non-league football to playing against David Beckham and he wouldn\'t look out of place at any standard of the game.
LEON BRITTON
(Midfielder)
A LOT of jokes go round about Leon being the baby of the team - and it\'s true that he never seems to get any older!
The players\' instinct is to look after him and make sure he gets to bed by 10pm. And he\'s got the naughtiness of a kid. Give him a mobile phone and he\'s dangerous - more dangerous than he would be with a gun as he\'s liable to make some jokey phone calls.
He\'s a talented player, though, with Brazilian skill. He gives you an extra dimension and he could go all the way to the Premiership if he works hard.
KRIS O\'LEARY
(Central midfielder)
KRIS is a bit of a contradiction.
He\'s a proud Welsh patriot yet he supports Manchester United - proving, I suppose, that no one\'s perfect.
He\'s always showing us his \"red\" side and letting us know how Man U have got on.
He\'s someone who\'d put his body on the line for the club. He\'s shown a lot of loyalty to the club, something you don\'t often find in this age.
He was deservedly our player of the year last season after adapting to a new role in central midfield.
OWAIN TUDUR JONES
(Midfielder)
OWAIN is our Welsh speaker so whenever we need someone to do some translating...
When he first came to Swansea he brought his Bangor fashion with him - some \"interesting\" special shoes for match days that the players thought were quite innovative.
Apart from a few injury problems, it\'s been a good season for Owain as he\'s made the breakthrough into league football and looks a great find.
ANDY ROBINSON
(Midfielder)
WHATEVER you read about Lee Trundle below, you could say the same for Andy. Whatever Trunds does, Robbo believes he can do the same.
Singing is one example - if Trunds gets on the microphone, Robbo will pick it up and try and copy him.
He thinks he\'s a bit of a singer and once he gets going at karaoke, you can\'t get the mic off him.
He\'s another who\'s had a fantastic season.
He makes things happen on the ball, takes people on and provides an end product with goals.
LEE TRUNDLE
(Striker)
TRUNDS is a bit of a comedian, he can do an impression of anyone you want. He even does this funny Scouse character called Wayne which has everyone in stitches.
He\'s the king of karaoke - he would be, wouldn\'t he? - but the one and only thing that makes him nervous is modelling on a catwalk. He cracked up when he tried to do that, and for once he wasn\'t himself. At last we found a weakness in him!
But he\'s a player who brings a smile to your face. He\'s got great skill and his goal record is fantastic.
ADEBAYO AKINFENWA
(Striker)
BAYO is funny and, above all else, a very warm person to have in the dressing room. He\'s a calming influence who gives you peace.
Or perhaps, considering the size of him, it\'s just that people tip toe around him because they don\'t want to upset him!
He\'s certainly a striker who defenders fear. You know you\'re going to get a torrid time against Bayo, who has shown a great eye for goal.
