Kohtunikust:
Reds rage at referee appointment
Adrian McCourt is a Fifa referee
Cliftonville have officially protested at the appointment of Adrian McCourt to referee Saturday's Daily Mirror Irish League game against Linfield.
The north Belfast club were unhappy with Fifa referee McCourt's performance in the league encounter between the clubs at Solitude in December.
In that game, Ciaran McMullan received a bad ankle injury after an apparent stamp by Linfield's Pat McShane.
The IFA has passed on Cliftonville's protest to its referees committee.
Cliftonville's letter, while acknowledging that their protest is unlikely to be successful, says the club are "appalled that the referees committee has seen fit to nominate Mr Adrian McCourt".
"Our protest is related to the incidents during and after the last game between the two clubs at Solitude on 18 December 2004 and the news that Ciaran McMullan, injured in that game, is unlikely to play again for at least nine months.
"Given the fact that Irish League football will again be under the media spotlight after the events of last weekend, we would have thought that some commonsense might have prevailed in making this decision."

Veel kohtunikust, tundub, et teine poolaeg tõotab tulla huvitav...
To say that this was not a game for the fainthearted would be a massive understatement as there were over-the-top challenge flying in right from the first whistle with a number of personal battles also taking place, battles that referee Adrian McCourt failed to clamp down on. Ten yellow cards and a sending off at the death just about sums it up as the Crues desperately tried to live up to their nickname of The Hatchetmen.
