Päris esimeseks klubiks Valencia saada/võtta on paras ports. Klubi on tänavu madalseisus, juhtkond ning fännid lootsid hooajalt kindlasti esikolmikusse trügimist. Ootused aga pole kindlasti kuhugi kadunud, vastupidi, pigem on surve meeskonnale hoopis tõusnud. Pealegi ei kuulu Valencia klubide hulka kus atra väga pikalt sättida lastaks, tulemusi tahetakse kohe ja praegu, et vähemalt CL koht ka järgmiseks aastaks kindlustada.
Kerge ei saa Neville brothersitel olema ja kuna ette pole näidata ka kogemusi jään lükke osas pigem pessimistiks. Sellise steer the ship eesmärgi peaksid vast ära täitma, midagi sellist mida Moyes tegi eelmine hooaeg Sociedadiga.

Mis mind hoopis rohkem üllatab on see, et Nuno Santo nii kärmelt ameti maha pani. Tänavune hooaeg on olnud küll vilets aga veel eelmine aasta oldi kohati täiesti hiilgavad ja portugaallane tundus mulle järgmise väga kõva tegijana hispaania jalgpallitreenerite areenil. Tema käe all mängis Valencia endale nii iseloomuliku "ära anna kunagi alla" jalgpalli ning neid murda oli pagana raske.
Ei saaks öelda, et Valencia olnuks minu jaoks oodatuim vastane, keda järjekordne jornada vastaseks andis. Simeone kiitis oma Valencia kolleegi mängujärgselt alati ja kiitis nende lähenemist. Kaks Madridi suurmeeskonda said eelmine hooaeg Valencialt La Ligas kahe peale kätte vaid 2 viiki!
Tänavu on see mängukirg aga kuhugi kadunud ja kuulda oli ka meeskonna sisestest konfliktidest, eriti puudutavat see Negredot, kes viimased kuud Nuno käe all mängu ei saanud.

Neville: "I understand my responsibility to appraise the players as quickly as possible, and to start winning games as quickly as possible."

Neville: "We’ve got some important games coming up, so important thing to win games, to pick the right time, regardless of style."

Neville: "The only way to approach any football job is to think of it as permanent job. Decisions will be long-term, not just 6 months."

Neville: "I'm not interested in bringing over an army of coaches. I want stability for VCF - and Layhoon and Peter that is their wish too."

Neville: "My family will move over here permanently, girls will finish school in Manchester in 2 weeks, then move to Valencia with my wife"

Neville: "I always wanted, when at a club, for foreign players to show commitment and immerse themselves in the culture of the city."

Neville: “I’ve been offered jobs in football over last five years - timing never felt right, wanted to learn about different things first."

Neville: "Sitting on television these last years talking about coaches, time has now come for me to stand up."

Neville: "Wonderful football club - I’m precious about what I associate myself with, but turning this job down would have lost credibility"

Neville: "Spanish is my biggest challenge, I dont speak language, wasnt in plan. I will take lessons every day. Need teacher 6AM every morn"

Neville: "I want to do what Philip has done. Philip’s Spanish fantastic, communicating with players, I must show same level of commitment"

Neville: "At moment I need to find Spanish teacher who will get up at 6AM to give me lessons."

Neville on being his bro's boss: “I don't see any problems, if Phil wasn't here, I'd want him here. He’s diligent, hard working, talented"

Neville: "Phil speaks very highly of the squad, their application, their dedication, talent and enthusiasm to train and work hard."

Neville: "Over last few weeks, confidence been an issue, but that happens at all clubs.”

Gary Neville: "Philip and Angulo will form part of the coaching team, certainly wont be a dictatorial approach.”

Gary asked what Neville the Sky pundit would think of a Spanish coach with no experience getting one of top Premier League jobs...

Neville answer: “I would question it - as a neutral observer. I would be skeptical and want to be proven otherwise."

Neville: "I have to say that, from my pov, I understand that over here I must prove to VCF fans and players that I can do this job."

Neville: "Anybody with doubts, reservations or concerns only be removed through winning football matches."

Neville: "I wont wipe out last four or five years - sure there will be people going over YouTube to find clips of what I’ve said before."

Neville: "Every coach wants to play attacking football & entertain people. Also must find way to win, thats challenge, like every coach."

Neville: "On Sunday first contact was made from Layhoon & Peter. By Monday evening I had accepted, needed to discuss with family overnight"

Neville: "Decided it would be unprofessional, players would not respect it, not fair to them to get new voice day before Barca match.”

Neville on two jobs: "When I spoke to Roy, he was incredibly supportive, positive & enthusiastic. He understood the opportunity for myself."

Neville: "England have [just] two friendly games in March, when Valencia dont play, and most players will be off."

Neville: "Everyone understands Valencia will be my priority 99% of time over the next five months. Can make calls to Roy & other coaches."

Neville: "I dont think about the long term, goals or objectives. I am focusing on Sunday’s training session, Monday’s, team for Wed."

Neville: "We all have ambition and dreams, but to get there must focus on individual bits one moment at a time.”

Neville asked if him being seen as close to Lim a problem: "My relationship with Peter Lim not a challenge - there is no challenge there."

Neville: "We’ve all seen inexperienced coaches succeed, and all seen experienced coaches fail. No magic formula for appointing a coach."

Neville: "I will certainly need help [with lingo]. David who works in video analysis speaks English and Spanish, he translated this morn."

Neville: "I will expect players to assist - at Old Trafford players were excellent in enabling new people to settle in."

Neville: " I must pick up some key phrases as quickly as possible, I am aware of what I need to do."

Neville: "I only know one way - to aim to win every match. Not always possible, but hopefully that takes us to position everyone proud of.”

Neville: "I know the VCF fans are demanding - they should be. It is for rest of us, coaching and playing side, to meet their demands.”

Neville: "“I didnt consult with Sir Alex as to whether to take the job, but did speak with him in last few days and he offered support."

Neville: "But important to say I have confidence in myself, my understanding of the game, and my belief is strong.”

Neville asked how much he will be involved with Salford from now on “I dont play for them [and laughs]."

Neville: "I have lots of interest in UK, but they’re parked for time being. I’m fully focused on this challenge in front of me.”

Neville: "Football a rollercoaster, clubs go through periods less good than others. The owner is fully committed to long term success."

Neville "Young players here [and owners] didnt want the club to be overhauled by another coach coming in with five or six staff."

Neville: "I’ve seen how intimidating stadium can be, that is ultimate to get the fans to come back and be as ferocious as they were before."

Neville: "In terms of developing own management style, my four or five years out of football more important than managers I've worked under"

Neville: "Afer working in business, have a different level of tolerance and acceptance. I’ll do it different than if had gone straight."

Neville: "The last 5 years the time I've needed to develop and mature as a person, to have the confidence to take a role of this stature.”

Neville: "It’s important I work as I want to work, I believe in myself, only took this on knowing I had a fair chance of achieving things."

Neville: "I’m also aware of judgement nature of modern football, understand that, have just come out of that world myself."

Neville: "Whatever happens in next 5 months, if I get fantastic results wont mean I’m fantastic coach. Bad results wont mean I'm bad coach."

Neville: "I’ve seen sporting directors work, sporting directors not work. I’m very clear about my role & responsibility until end of season”

Neville: “I’ve not spoken about [transfers in Jan]. That’s not a consideration - I’ll work with the players we have.”

Neville: "I want to work with current players in dressingroom, have full faith and belief in them. They deserve chance to play for VCF."

Neville: "A lot of young players in squad, who need time to mature, and need faith and belief for them to grow and develop."

Neville: "Also, it’s easy to make decisions on young players too soon and say we need to sign players. I’m very patient."

Neville: "I've always watched lot of games in La Liga. In last few weeks, it has been confidence & belief that seems to have faltered.

Neville: "They are all quality individuals, wouldnt be here otherwise, everyone has equal opportunity, that’s important to say.”

Neville asked about rumour Mourinho will be here next summer. Gary laughs: “President is sat here. I dont appoint the next coach.”

Neville: "“Winning trophies is demand at this club. I know that I fall behind I wont be here [next season]. Know the business I’m in.”
