Juventus attacking midfielder Fabrizio Miccoli has rejected a move to Aston Villa.

Juve director general Luciano Moggi confirmed yesterday Miccoli\'s decision, which is likely to see him sit out the first-half of the season until the winter market opens.

\"I\'m convinced that Miccoli in December will be main man on the market. I do not understand this, though, because he has refused good offers from Benfica and Aston Villa,\" said Moggi.

VILLA new boy Wilfred Bouma has spoken of his delight at clinching a £3.3million move from PSV Eindhoven, insisting he had no regrets about turning down a late offer from European Champions Liverpool.

The 27-year-old was also courted by Blues and Middlesbrough but chose Villa after a heart-to-heart with David O\'Leary.

He was due to sign a four-year deal later today after undergoing a routine medical scan in Sheffield before jetting back to Holland in readiness for their World Cup qualifiers with Armenia and Andorra.



The signing has outraged PSV - who he joined 12 years ago, making his debut in 1994 - who are bitter that Villa exercised a release-clause in his contract.

Bouma has no regrets about turning down Liverpool\'s approach which came on Saturday evening. He said: \"Villa made it very clear that they wanted to sign me and I made up my mind that I wanted to come here, so there was no changing that.

\"I am really delighted to be joining Villa. It is a big club and I am really looking forward to playing for them in the Premier League.

\"I know Aston Villa want to be challenging at the top of the table and I want to help. I want to do my best to improve the club.\"

Bouma praised O\'Leary for his role in attracting him to the club ahead of Liverpool\'s late bid.

He said: \"The manager David O\'Leary was a massive reason for my signing for Villa. I had a great talk with him and he made it clear that he believes in me and my ability. That gives me confidence and that\'s important for me.

\"I had a good feeling about Villa with their history of being a big club and the people I have spoken to from the club were all very helpful. That\'s why I chose Aston Villa. Villa Park is also a really great stadium and I look forward to my first game for the club.\"

Bouma, who has 20 caps, believes his game will improve at Villa Park.

\"I wanted to see for myself how things looked at Villa and if there were possibilities in the Premier League for me,\" he said. \"All the clubs in England are beautiful but Villa did the most to get me.

\"In the Premier League you have to be 100 percent every week, against every opponent. That is the beautiful thing about this competition. I can develop more here.\"

Villa chairman Doug Ellis, currently on holiday in Italy, added: \"When you add up all the extras, we\'re investing £21 million in Milan Baros and Bouma. It\'s what the manager wanted and now he\'s got it.

\"Villa have been in Europe for 10 of the past 20 years, but regrettably haven\'t been in Europe for some time now. It is time we were back where we belong
