West Ham United will have to eventually pay back £100 million to the club's new Icelandic owners.

The Sun says chairman Eggert Magnusson and partner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson have loaned the money to the Hammers on condition it is repaid with interest over the next 10 years.

It has also emerged that Magnusson only owns five per cent of West Ham and is acting as the front man to Gudmundsson who controls 95 per cent.

A West Ham insider said: "Maybe it was naive of people to think the Icelanders had come over bearing gifts expecting nothing in return.

"These people are not stupid, they are businessmen."

Every quarter the Hammers have to repay interest on the loan which will amount to around £5m a year.

The first payment is due on March 31.

If the club is unable to pay the £1.25m interest each quarter, the interest is added on to the next payment.

Also, at some point before 2016, the £100m itself must be repaid
