Sorry, but I am in England now and could not see the match (which was translated on the Kazakh television). From what I see it is very good result for you, since you did not have your best squad and you played away. But I also don't think Kazakhstan played to their full potential.

Did you know that it was the same result in Almaty last year with Iraq in the crucial WC qualification match? Kazakhstan then scored in the first half, but Iraq equalised straight away.

I also think that our problem is to try to copy Spartak Moscow style of short passing, when sometimes a more direct style of football would be preferable.

Anyway, I think these sort of competitive matches are very good for both teams, as they allow to identify our strenghts and weaknesses and help our preparation for future matches.

Kazakhstan draw in debut as UEFA members

ALMATY (Reuters) - Kazakhstan have outplayed Estonia but were held to a 1-1 draw in their first international as a member of European soccer union UEFA.
Both goals came within two minutes at the end of the first half, Oleg Litvinenko putting Kazakhstan ahead after 38 minutes before Meelis Rooba equalised two minutes later.

Kazakhstan, inspired by substitute Alibek Buleshev, dominated after the break but could not score again on a hot summer evening in Almaty.

'It was an average match but Kazakhstan had the better chances,' Alim Anapyanov, editor of the Kazakh twice-weekly newspaper Pro-Sport, said. 'You can say we've registered as Europeans. A draw in our first game in Europe isn't bad.'

Kazakhstan, formerly part of the Asian Football Confederation, is the most distant of UEFA's territories, with Almaty just a four hour drive from the Chinese border.

The vast Central Asian state, five times the size of France but with just 15 million people, joined UEFA on April 25 after successfully applying for membership.

'Several people noted that Kazakhstan played better against European opposition than Asian,' Yuri Lifintsev, football correspondent of the official Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper, and a football writer for 32 years, told Reuters.

He said teams such as Feyenoord of the Netherlands, Zaragoza of Spain and even Fluminense of Brazil had played teams in Kazakhstan and got the best out of local sides.

In Soviet times the country's top team, Kairat, played in the top Soviet division, and the European style of Soviet soccer dominated Kazakhstan. 'All our lives we've played as Europeans,' Lifintsev said.

Zhiger, be cool. Jyrka is known for hes somewhat stupid language, but you have to understand that he is still a small boy and does´nt always know what he´s talking. Puberty=little tolerance

Currently we are seeking our new sparring-partner. Possibly it is going to be either Moldova or Greece.

I personally think we need to play at least 1 game a month to progress at this level by playing teams of different styles.

My Estonian friend, currently studying in Britain, told me that
Kazakhstan has received quite a lot of media attention recently in
Estonia.
I think we all would agree that we know very little about our countries
and it's nice that football matches would help us to enlarge contacts
anyway.
If football can bring the countries closer to each other, that would
be great. The socializing between different cultures and backgrounds is
an essential part of sport competitions.
