'We knew it would be hard for the full ninety minutes. Those Young Boys were all over us. We didn't know how to take it. The lads tried to hold back and just soak it all up but they just kept penetrating our back four. Twice they got round the back and just slipped it in. We tried pushing up from the back and spreading balls around but we simply couldn't get it up far enough to bang it in. As I'd warned them these Young Boys weren't going to be easy and we'd have to use all our strength to overpower them and get on top. Despite having watched plenty of DVDs showing these Young Boys in action, some with other Young Boys that were playing with them tonight and some against some older bigger men, we obviously hadn't seen enough. They were clearly used to playing with each other and we could only watch as the showed us how to take it off one player and dribble it across to another without a problem - their short balls were so smooth. They showed how easy it was to beat off our defence and put one in behind them again. Luckily one of our lads got hold of a loose ball and cracked one off straight in the gap.
We couldn't wait to swap ends - couldn't come soon enough. Our rearguard had been peppered with shots and was often left gaping after the Young Boys had been pushing right up again.
I pulled the lads off at half time and gave them a mouthfull. The second half was a bit better as the Young Boys were tiring and going a bit soft on us. Our lads were getting a bit stiff by now, they'd been chasing Young Boys for almost an hour and were finding it hard to keep it up. I got the players to swap positions so that we could see if we could get behind the Young Boys and slip one in. They put up a hell of a fight and we struggled to open them up.
In the final ten minutes our tackles had gone soft again despite those Young Boys still being up for it. The team needed a boost so I gave them one. Towards the end of the game we were shooting from all angles and the other team were getting drained as they had been dribbling far too much earlier on.
Finally our balls were getting tighter and just when it seemed we were going to flop the midfield got a couple of nice balls into Pavlyuchenko and that was the spur he needed. He shot three times in quick succession, once into the keepers face, one straight into his hands and finally hit the target when he shot right over the spreadeagled goalie.
My lads came of after ninety minutes limp and sticky. They had been battering the Young Boys box all night and, push as hard as they did, struggled to get it in more than twice in a night. At the end of the night though those Young Boys simply didn't know what came over them.
Can't wait to get them back to our place where we'll have another 30,000 dicks behind us. Sadly there are quite a few who aren't complete dicks but we're not fussy as long as they come.
The real test was tonight though as we had a football game to play.'

My spell checking is second to nine!

Ei igasugusele videotehnoloogiale!!!!"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It’s nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It’s about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom". - Danny Blanchflower, legend

We are delighted to announce the signing of William Gallas on a one year deal.
The France international was part of the Chelsea side that won back-to-back Premier League titles as well as the League Cup in 2005. His performances during Chelsea's second Premier League-winning campaign saw him included in the 2005/06 PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
The former Caen and Marseille defender, 33, left Stamford Bridge after five seasons, during which he made 213 appearances and scored 14 goals, to join Arsenal in September 2006. Gallas captained the side during the 2007/08 campaign and went on to make 145 appearances, scoring 17 goals before leaving at the end of last season.
