His younger brother Diego has been arrested in Buenos Aires and thrown into jail after being caught carrying a gun and ‘war ammunition’.
Tevez and a friend were stopped in the early hours of Friday as he drove a pick-up truck through a tough area known as Fort Apache on the outskirts of the capital.
Police found a loaded 38mm revolver on Diego, along with 14 more bullets. The friend with him was also arrested.
Public Prosecutor Marcelo Sendot said he had been accused of ‘illegal possession of a war weapon and war ammunition’.
It is the second time in two years Diego Tevez has fallen foul of the law.
