In 2010, Dr. Orava said that the recovery period for a ruptured achilles tendon is 3-4 months. Dr. Orava also said that it takes 4-5 months before the player can start running properly, after rupturing the achilles tendon. It will take around 6 months before the player can jump and kick a ball after the achilles tendon surgery, according to Dr. Orava.
