As of 1am on Thursday, we\'d received 846 emails from you lot regarding the number 10 situation - and daft as we are, we\'ve been through the lot of them.

If time permits we\'ll try and get a selection of views online, but we did make the following notes based on what we read:

There are three main factions - roughly equal in size:

1. Those who cannot contemplate a Bellamy-less Newcastle attack and refuse to blame the striker for his response to not being picked up front.

2. Those whose low opinion of Souness hasn\'t been improved by the events of the last week and blame him for deliberately creating a situation of conflict within the club, to divert attention from our current mediocrity.

This group includes people who are both pro and anti Bellamy - with demands for most combinations of player, manager and chairman (plus the Halls) to stay / go.

3. Those who believe Bellamy cannot play for the club again and has passed the point of no return. This includes the \"rot in the reserves\" brigade and the \"out at any price\" faction.

There\'s certainly a groundswell of opinion against Souness, but Robson gets stick as well in some quarters for a) selling Solano and creating the vacancy in right midfield that neither Bowyer nor Ambrose filled adequately b) failing to discipline Dyer previously and allowing players too much of a free rein c) failing to discipline Bellamy previously.

Overall, there\'s an air of despondency tinged with sadness - many people seeing the latest events as part of a general malaise affecting the club from top to bottom, on and off the field.

How to deal with that problem seems to unite most, with a change in the administration being widely called for.

However there\'s realism here from some quarters, several readers commenting that a removal of Souness before he\'s fielded his signings is a knee-jerk reaction - and that kicking him out now would leave us with the same limited choice of candidates that saw Souness appointed in the first place.

The discipline angle also draws comment - the point being made that Souness was sold to fans as being the one to sort out the wheat from the chaff.

However his attempt to do so is either a) directed at the wrong target b) ham-fisted generally c) a second attempt at pursuing the policy which failed for him at Blackburn with Yorke and Cole, or d) doomed to failure as long as the culture of the club stays the same (and the present board remain at the helm.)

A few also draw parallels with the fall from grace of Leeds, while Kluivert is the object of scorn for his non-displays this season and gets roped in to the \"discard alongside Bellamy\" category, as do Bramble, Robert, Bernard and Dyer.

There are also some belting versions of what went on in recent days at the club, of the \"my brother\'s window cleaner drinks with....\" variety.

As ever, thanks to those who took the time to write - views were received from all over the UK, France, Germany (thanks Ray), Japan, USA, Australia, Canada, Norway, India, United Arab Emirates and no doubt many others who didn\'t make it obvious where they were mailing from.

Most people appear to grasp that our comments on this page are purely our own opinion and no attempt is made to be democratic or representative of other people\'s views.

We also had the views of people who declared themselves to be West Ham, Ayr, Leeds, Rangers, Orient, PSG, Coventry and Scarborough fans - all of which at least seemed to be objective.

It might not be perfect, but hey - it\'s a damn sight better than text messages...

ma usun et Bell-ass enam NU eest ei mängi! ja Kluivertil oleks küll aeg juba põhisse naasta. isegi mitte 100% vormis olles on ta igal juhul parem kui Shola.
