Coppa loos tehtud ja Rooma jaoks coppa kohta ebatavaliselt väga keeruline loos. Esimeses ringis suure tõenäosusega Toriino, siis Juventuse Le7endid veerandfinaalis ja poolfinaalis võidu korral Napoli. Teisel pool bracketit meeskondadel ainuke raske mäng Milaano derby veerandfinaalis, sealne võitja siis ka 100% finaalis.
Mis Mahrezi puudutab, siis Leicesteri 50 millise nõudmise peale tehti esialgne pakkumine 23 milli ja Leicester langetas hinna 40 peale, teine pakkumine oli 27 milli kanti ja Leicester langetas nõudmise 35 milli peale. Kolarov right man for Roma
e:Serie A fans underestimate just how important Aleksandar Kolarov can be after arriving from Manchester City, writes Tom Scholes.
Roma confirmed the signing of former Lazio and Manchester City defender Aleksander Kolarov with probably the best announcement video we have seen all summer. The video itself may have received a large amount of praise for its humour and originality, but what struck me more was that no one was talking about the signing itself.
No one is praising or discrediting this transfer: it seems to have simply flown under the radar. Everyone is so caught in the announcement video that they have forgotten that this is actually a smart buy for Roma, and a good bit of business for a small fee.
The 31-year-old has joined the club for a fee around €5m and is someone that comes with a lot of experience, intelligence and knowledge on how to win trophies. It may not be a headline-grabbing signing, but Kolarov can become an important player for Roma this season.
Looking at Kolarov’s past two seasons with Manchester City, you can see he has versatility and can play left-back, left midfield or as a centre-back, something he did with regularity this past season under Pep Guardiola. He played 23 times as a centre-back and 16 times on the left, which will come in handy under Eusebio Di Francesco this season.
From the left-back position, Kolarov has the ability to whip in dangerous crosses from deep and near the by-line, either across the floor or to an aerial threat, which in this case will be Edin Dzeko. From an attacking point of view, Kolarov’s crosses can be important for Roma, especially in dead ball situations. Whipping in free kicks or even shooting directly at goal, Kolarov’s left foot is a valuable weapon. Even from centre-back, he has the range of a midfielder and I wouldn’t be surprised if he made a few appearances as a holding midfielder or even a sweeper at times, should Roma play a three-at-the-back system.
Maybe the most important part of Kolarov joining Roma isn’t anything he can do with his left foot, or even how many positions he can play, it’s that he has proven he can play in trophy-winning teams. Dating back even to his time at arch-rivals Lazio, Kolarov has always had a knack of picking up silverware.
The Coppa Italia and Supercoppa with Lazio, before an FA Cup, two League Cups and two Premier League titles with Manchester City, means that Kolarov arrives at Roma with a winning mentality, knowing how to get over the line when it really counts. His experience will be vital without the likes of Francesco Totti around, as Kolarov and Daniele De Rossi will be the elder statesmen on the pitch and in the dressing room, helping out the younger players.
So ultimately, whilst it may not be a transfer as glamorous as the announcement video and he may not cost €220m, Aleksander Kolarov has all the ability to become an important player at the Stadio Olimpico, which is why this is a clever move from Roma and Monchi.
