Lisan huvitavamad teile lugemiseks:
TASE:
I think I need to remind about the history. There was'nt such a country as Estonia before 1918! It was Lenin who decided to give the people living there their own country. Before that it was always a part of Russia. One can not talk about occupation of one's own territory! After the WWII the USSR made this country as a part of the Union without taking their independence off. They were a part of USSR as the Estonian Republic. What occupation you are all talking about???
Alex, Moscow
------------
NO ANNA ARU:
The problem is much more serious than removal or reallocation of 1 monument. In modern Estonia Nazi are getting stronger every year. I visited Estonia 2 years ago and was surprised by number of monuments and tombs of SS-legioners. It's not well-known that Estonian's prime-ministers father was Nazi soldgier fighting against civil population in USSR and Poland. If we let Estonians to forget their history - next step will be denial of Holocost! Estonian policy is unacceptable for European Union!
Isaac, Tel-Aviv
The Estonia government seems to try to put out the memory in the Nazis rule age.
I feel the removal of the bronze statue that is the symbol of liberating from Nazis
even in movement to affirm Nazis.
I sympathize with the people who protest against the removal of the bronze
statue.
Tomonori Higuchi, Tokyo,Japan
------------
Being a Hungarian I fully symphatize with the Estonian people in wanting to remove any memorial to the occupying forces of the Soviet Union. Fallen soldiers of all nations protecting their own country should be memorailized by their own people, in their own lands. The Soviet army 'liberated' the Hungarian people in 1945 by raping their women, burning villages, shooting and deporting thousands to Siberia as they did in all the other 'liberated' countries. Soviet memorials should be removed!
Emoke Csipe, Los Angeles
-------------
Another thing that is quite scary about the comments by Estonians in this discussion. They don't hesitate to call migrants from Asia "savages", to call Russians "scum" and publicly admit that they don't like "them". Them all, just because they are Russians. And now the Estonian government has (re)moved the anti-fascist memorial. This kind of nationalism of a small nation which was oppressed by its neighbours for a long time is understandable. But it can hardly arouse any sympathy.
Alexey, Russia
-------------
If the Nazis had occupied a country after "freeing" it from Soviet rule would their statues be left in place? I highly doubt it. Estonia is in the right to reject to propaganda of their former oppressor. As this is an internal affair, the Russian government should keep quite about it.
Matthew, California
-------------
Yah, yah, “independence, occupation, freedom, sovereign rights”…blah-blah-blah…
But true reason however, to give a “special” gift to Russians on the eve of their sacred Victory Day (The End of WWII), the day their paid 20, 000, 000 of their fallen.
The Nazi were not eliminated. They are hiding in Estonia, in its government buildings.
Nik, Toronto
---------------
As the statue has become political it must be removed - regardless of feelings because it is obvious it invokes feelings and sentiments that are wrong. Yes, Anti-facsist Soviets should be acknowledged and honoured somehow, but not in a monument that is now used to provoke ethnic hatred and difference bewteen Estonian and Russian. Shame on Russian supremicists that use this as a political tool for their constituency. Build a new monument honouring Estonian and Russian anti-fascists.
thomas williams

Nunnu:
Rather than criticize Estonia Russia should extend a hand of understanding, thereby reducing tensions. Putin's confrontational approach demonstrates that Russia has learned nothing from its history. The occupation of Estonia after WW II was not only illegal, it was brutal. Being of Baltic descent (Lithuanian) I understand Estonia's predicament entirely. Most Russians, who themselves suffered under their communist regime, understand this as well.

Lugesin minagi neid BBC kommentaare ja seal on ikka päris lõbusaid pärle. neid tulebki võtta lõbusalt justkui Pikkri eriväljaannet, sest see väljendab ainult mõne (enamasti vene taustaga) inimese meelsust.

Tatikaid oli palju, enamus vanuses 14-18, oli ka vanemaid ja just üks nendest vanematest ka ära seoti turvameeste poolt, kes lendasid kohale eraautoga ja täiesi märkamatult.“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become reality.”
